Program Description

Set an example, organize people and processes, and ultimately be a force for positive change with the Leadership Studies Minor at the University of Utah. Students of this program will have an opportunity to discuss leadership practices and theories and then apply these topics to hands-on leadership activities. The program curriculum includes an introductory leadership course, a fieldwork experience class, and a capstone course, with electives from three categories—Ethical and Cultural Foundations; Group, Organizational, and Community Contexts; and Practical Skills, Instruments, and Processes—rounding out the curriculum. Through discussion, service, and community involvement, the Leadership Studies program will give you what it takes to be a leader in contemporary society.

Academic and Career Opportunities

The U offers many involvement opportunities for Leadership Studies students. Join the Associated Students of the University of Utah (ASUU) to help make your and other students’ experience at the U a great one. If you want to lead in a smaller setting, consider becoming a peer advisor for LEAP, a two-semester class that helps new students transition to college. Upon completion of the minor, put your leadership skills to work with careers in business, management, or public office. If you want to attend graduate school, consider programs and subsequent careers in administration or law.
