CLEP Credit & Correspondence Study
Depend on Podiatry school. Check each podiatry school’s website for more information.
AP Credits
Podiatry schools take AP credits, but it is recommended to take coursework beyond introductory classes waived by AP.
Repeats
Repeats are counted in your AACPMAS GPA
2 year college credits
Many schools limit credits taken at 2 year colleges to 60.
Withdrawals
W’s should normally be used only for non-academic emergencies.

BIOLOGY 

1210 (4) Principles of Biology: fills 1 of 2 general biology requirements (AP Biology will NOT waive)

2325 (4) Human Anatomy: required by many schools, fulfills BIOL lab requirement for most schools

2420 (4) Human Physiology: MCAT prep emphasis; (prereq: Biol 1210 and Chem 1210))


The following biology courses may be required or recommendedby Podiatry Schools and any ofthese courses fulfill the 1 of 2general biology requirements

2020 (3) Cell Biology: required by UUSOM (prereq: Biol 1210 and Chem 1210)

2030 (3) Genetics: (prereq: Biol 2020)

2210 (3) Human Genetics: (prereq: Biol 1210)

CHEMISTRY 

1210 (4) + 1215 (1); Gen Chem 1+Lab (prereq: Math 1050)

1220 (4) + 1225 (1); Gen Chem 2+Lab

2310 (4) + 2315 (2); Organic Chem 1+Lab

2320 (4) + 2325 (2); Organic Chem 2+Lab

BIOL/CHEM 3510 (3) + BIOL/CHEM 3515 (3) Biochem I+Lab; required by many schools; fulfills BIOL lab requirement for many schools if you register for course as BIOL. (prereq: Biol 2020, 2030, Chem 2320)

 

Non-Science Courses you need to complete before the application

English Composition/Writing: Need 2 semesters. As a University of Utah student, WRTG 2010 and CW.

Social Sciences: 1 psychology course MAY BE required by some podiatry schools.

1) This guide is designed for students preparing for podiatry schools. Some courses may not be required by all professional schools and some schools may require additional courses not on this list. See a PPA advisor for more information.
2) In order to take the proper math class, you have to have ACT, SAT or math placement test scores, or successfully pass a prerequisite math course.
