You are encouraged to meet with your academic advisor at any time with questions or concerns about academics or progress toward your degree.
At certain milestones in your academic career you will be required to meet with your academic advisor. If you do not meet with an advisor at these specific times, you will have a hold place on your record preventing you from registering for future semesters.
First Year Milestone Advising
Admitted as a new freshman and enrolled in your first semester at the U of U? You are required to meet with an advisor before registering next semester.
(If you started in the summer, you will need to meet an advisor in the fall)
First Year Exploration Advising
Are you in your 2nd semester at the U and your major status is undeclared?
Advisors want to check back in with you about major exploration, help you reflect on your first semester at the University, and create a plan for exploring majors moving forward.
Second Year Milestone Advising
In your 2nd or 3rd semester and have fewer than 90 credit hours? You are required to meet with your advisor.
If you haven't decided on a major, you need to meet with a Major Exploration advisor in the Academic Advising Center.
Undeclared Students
Do you have 60+ credit hours, have been enrolled at least 2 semesters and haven't declared a major? You are required to meet with an advisor.
If you know what major you would like to declare, meet with an advisor from that department to declare your major.
If you are still undecided, meet with a Major Exploration advisor at the Academic Advising Center.
