What type of student are you?

Prospective/Newly Admitted Student
  • Prospective Student - Select this option if you are considering applying to the University of Utah and have questions about transitioning to the U.
  • Newly Admitted Student - Select this option if you have been recently admitted to the University of Utah and have questions about what your next steps might be.
  • Peer Advisor - Select this option if you would like to speak with a current student who has been trained as an advisor. They can assist you with talking about classes, involvement at the U, life in Salt Lake City, and more!
  • PreProfessional Advisor - Select this option if you are a prospective student who is considering the University of Utah and would like to meet with an advisor for PreHealth or PreLaw appointments.
  • Orientation Advising Hold - Select if you need to meet with an academic advisor to complete New Student Orientation.

Newly Admitted Student

Current/Returning Student
  • Hold On Account - Select if you have a Milestone Advising Program (MAP) hold or an Academic Standards hold on your academic record.
  • Exploring Majors - Deciding on a major?  Major Exploration appointments are a great way to explore the academic programs offered at the U.
  • Help with Classes - You can meet with an advisor to select classes, to get help with registering, or meet to discuss dropping/withdrawing from a class.
  • Academic Progress - Students without a hold that may be worried about grades, need follow-up from previous meeting, curious about how a grade will affect academic standing, and/or curious about next steps.
  • Graduation Requirements - Select this for assistance with Policies and Procedures, Degree Audit, and/or Graduation Emergencies.
  • MAP 2nd Year - Select this to fulfill your MAP 2nd Year advising requirement
  • PreProfessional Advisor - Please select this option if you are a CURRENT student and would like to meet with an advisor for PreHealth or PreLaw appointments.
  • Peer Advisor - Peer Advisors are students who have also been trained as advisors and can assist you with classes, involvement at the U, life in SLC, and more!
  • UGS 1050 - Students taking UGS 1050: Major Exploration are required to meet with their instructor at least once while taking the course.
  • Return from Suspension - Select for discussing returning from suspension and for assistance with preparing a suspension appeal.

Current/Returning Student > I need help with classes and registration

Current/Returning Student > MAP 2nd year appointment

Current/Returning Student > I need help with graduation requirements 


  • Graduation Emergency - If you are in your last semester and you have a problem pertaining to General Education or Bachelor Degree requirements, select this option.
  • Policies & Procedures - an advisor will explain one or more of the following:  Late or Retroactive Withdrawals, Academic Renewal, repeated courses, deferment, a leave of absence, JSTs and/or General Education petitions.
  • Degree Audit - select this appointment if you have not run a Degree Audit or would like to know more about it.  Degree Audit is a great way to track classes needed to graduate.

Current/Returning Student > I have a hold on my student account
  • MAP Hold - Choose  for mandatory advising holds for 1st year, 2nd year or Undeclared with 60+ credit hours completed.
  • My GPA is below a 2.0 - Academic Standards Hold
