Taking the summer off from classes, but worried about losing your musical edge? Or do you simply want to surround yourself with others who are passionate about music? Whatever your musical goals are, the programs offered by Summer Music at the U can help you achieve them.

Options to expand your musical knowledge and experience include:
          Mountain West Trombone Workshop – June 2nd
               
The Mountain West Trombone workshop offers masterclasses, warm-ups, and instrument demos. Mark Davidson and Donn Schaefer will be leading all in a trombone choir.
          Chamber Music Workshop – June 10th-14th

               
Over five highly focused days, serious string and piano pre-college and college students in the U of U’s Summer Chamber Music Workshop will explore the fine        art of chamber music playing under the expert guidance of School of Music         string and piano faculty members, as well as dynamic guest artists. 
          International Piano Festival – July 22nd-28th
         
During each session, Festival participants will fine-tune their pianistic,     performing and musicianship skills by participating in daily individual lessons,      master classes and seminars, learning from renowned teachers and concert pianists. The festival’s rigorous program will prepare participants for the final piano competition, at which winners receive cash prizes.
          SummerArts Competition – August 9th and 11th
               
The SummerArts Competition offers elementary through college piano students          the opportunity to compete over two days in David P. Gardner Hall for cash awards, scholarships and performance prizes.
