Apply Now for Bennion Center Alternative Spring Breaks

Your school breaks can change your life and help a community when you spend that time on a transformative Alternative Break trip.

The Alternative Breaks Program engages University of Utah students, faculty and staff in community in volunteerism and experiential learning. Teams of students, along with faculty/staff partners, visit and work in cities throughout the Western United States on a variety of projects to address unmet social and environmental justice needs. “Alt Breaks” collaborate with non-profit organizations to promote lifelong service through service, education, and dialogue.

Spring 2020 programs include opportunities to work on:

Animal Advocacy and Rehabilitation in Kanab, Utah

Coastal Ecosystem Restoration in Point Reyes, California

Community Health in Vancouver, Canada

HIV and Aids in Hollywood, California

Housing Justice in Seattle, Washington

Immigration in San Diego, California

Marine Conservation in Santa Cruz, California

Queering Justice in San Francisco, California

Urban Environmentalism in Portland, Oregon

Environmental Stewardship near Moab, Utah

 Applications are now being accepted for Spring 2020 Alternative Spring Break Programs.
