Pasifika Undergraduate Research Fellows and Ambassador Positions Now Open

The Pasifika Ambassador Program

The Pasifika Ambassadors Program provides undergraduate students, who have an interest in or commitment to the Pacific Islander community and PI studies, the unique opportunity to learn from and with Pacific Islands Studies Initiative professors and staff.

Besides working with faculty and staff, Pasifika Ambassadors are involved in several on- and off-campus activities co-hosted or sponsored by the PI Studies Initiative. Other duties include, but are not limited to,

  • Staffing various community events and outreach activities
  • Assisting with marketing and promoting the U and PI Studies
  • Working on projects designed to help advance the goals of the PI Initiative with designated PI Studies Initiative professors, staff, and community leaders

Pay: $15.00 per hour.

The Pasifika Undergraduate Research Fellows Program

The Mellon-Pasifika Undergraduate Research Fellows program (UG Fellows) provides paid research opportunities for students at the U to work with Pacific Islands Studies Faculty.  Through this program, students will develop research and critical thinking skills by working on a research project under the mentorship of a faculty member.

Each fellowship supports approximately 100 to 150 hours of paid project time for the student that must be completed by the end of fall semester.

The UG Fellows will be paid $15.00 per hour.

The UG Fellows in Pacific Islands Studies is open to undergraduate students with an expressed interest in pursuing Pacific Islands Studies topics and projects. Students will work collaboratively with a faculty member on a research project and present their work at the Undergraduate Research Symposium. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible for recognition of their achievements on their diploma.
