Step 2: Prepare for your appointment

Academic advising is a learning process and a partnership between the student and advisor. So that you can participate in this learning experience, take the steps listed below to prepare for your advising appointment.

1. Begin Exploring Majors

Exploring majors helps you find one that fits and gives you the opportunity to create a meaningful degree.

Prior to your advising appointment, create a list of majors, minors, and/or certificates that look interesting to you. Click on the buttons below to get started!

2. Run a "What-if" Audit

Your degree audit is a checklist of everything you will need to graduate. Running a degree audit regularly will help you stay on track for graduation.

Before your appointment, run a what-if audit to begin exploring different majors and planning for upcoming semesters!

3. Get to Know Yourself

  • If you could create a class on any topic, what would it be?
  • What skills are you hoping to learn while in college?
  • What is a question you want your education to help you answer?
  • If you could solve any problem (big or small), what would it be?
  • You imagine yourself working in the future—what does that look like?
