The Right Time to Apply to the U

It is important to know the applications deadlines set by the University of Utah for the semester that you plan to apply, but these are not the ideal time to be turning in your application.  By waiting until the deadline to apply you:

• Will register late for classes after the bulk of continuing U of U students and many new transfer students have already registered.
• It will take longer for your application to be processed because there are so many applications that arrive in the Admissions Office right at the deadline. 

You also don’t want to turn in your application too far in advance of the semester you want to attend the U.  The U would like the most up-t0-date transcripts possible sent to them along with your application.  This does not mean that you should wait to apply until you have completed your final semester!   The U expects to receive transcripts with your current semester courses in –progress.  You will simply need to send a second, final set of transcripts when all your grades and degrees area posted.

Optimal times to apply to the U are:

September for Spring Semester

January for Summer Semester

February for Fall Semester
