LGBT Resource Center Internships
The LGBT Resource Center is currently hiring for two part time positions: a student Gay-la intern and a Queer and Trans Students of Color Community Development Specialist. Here are some details about the positions:
Queer and Trans Students of Color Community Development Specialist
Who can apply: Students (undergraduate or graduate) or non-students
Schedule: 12hrs/wk, includes some evenings and weekends
Hourly Pay: $15/hr
Start Date: Aug 2
Term: August 2021-May 2022 (can be renewed for 22-23 for the right candidate)
Position Summary:
The Queer and Trans Students of Color Community Development Specialist is a new position which will lead in coordinating community building programs for queer and trans students of color (QTSOC). This includes LGBTQIA+ students who are Black/African American, Indigenous, Asian/Asian American, Latin/o/a/x, Pacific Islander, Arab/Arab American, and/or Multiracial. The Community Development Specialist will create affinity spaces—both in-person and online—for QTSOC at the university to meet each other, form community, and get connected to a greater network of mentors and leaders at the university or in the broader community. This position will outreach to engage students as participants and volunteers in this affinity programming, and will also work with LGBT RC staff to enhance outreach efforts to QTSOC across campus. This position will report to the Director of the LGBT RC and will work with the Director to create assessment measures to show the impact of affinity programming.

Gay-la Intern
Who can apply: Students (undergraduate, graduate, or incoming freshman who have been accepted to the U and will be starting school in Fall 2021)
Schedule: 10hrs/wk, in between 8am-5pm with occasional evening or weekend work.
Hourly Pay: $10/hr
Start Date: June 28
Term: Must be available to work 10 hours a week from June 28 to October 15, 2021. This includes academic breaks (summer, fall, etc.), as well as occasional evening and weekend work.
Position Summary:
For the Gay-la Intern position we are seeking a student intern who is creative, passionate about making inclusive community spaces, highly organized, and excited to plan events with the potential to make lasting change. The Gay-la Intern leads in planning our largest fundraiser of the year, which supports funding for our student programs and scholarships. This intern will play a pivotal role in creating an engaging, interactive, and impactful Gay-la and they will help us refresh what has been a signature event for LGBTQIA+ community at the U for over a decade. This paid internship is part-time (10 hours per week) and temporary, lasting June 28 to October 15 2021. The intern reports to the Executive Secretary and also works closely with the Director. There is potential to extend the internship for the 2022 Gay-la for the right candidate.
