Program Description
This major is designed to correspond with the Utah State Board of Education endorsement requirements to teach History at the secondary level (high school).
In addition to completing this major, students will also need to complete the Utah State Board of Education licensure requirements for secondary education (either through undergraduate coursework or a Master's in Education that includes licensure).
The Student Experience
Students can enrich their academic experience by completing a local internship, authoring an undergraduate research project, presenting at the department conference, or winning the best essay contest. Students can also join such departmental organizations as Phi Alpha Theta (a history honor society) or H-SAC (the History Student Advisory Committee).
Career Opportunities
This major prepares students to teach History at the secondary level (high school). However, since nearly every career has a teaching/training/coaching element, graduates of this major have gone on to a wide variety of careers in nearly all sectors of the economy.
